Hello and Welcome to the home of the Larkspur Lasers!
The Lasers Swim Team proudly represents the Larkspur Swim and Racquet Club in the Virginia Beach Swim League (VBSL), competing in the Marlin Division. Swimmers of all levels, ages 4-18, join us each year to hone their competitive strokes while making friends in the community and fun summer league memories.
Due to the impacts of COVID-19, VBSL did not have an official 2020 Season. In lieu of a regular season, the Lasers held a month long swim clinic ending with a fun filled intrasquad mini meet where the swimmers showed off their skills.
Our coaches, swimmers, volunteers, and families are eagerly awaiting the summer of 2021! Please continue to check back here for the latest information on the Lasers. You can also follow us on Facebook, Instagram or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to our email distribution list.
Head Coach Carina Masson
Favorite Skill: Body position! It is the most important building block for all 4 strokes. You can’t build a stroke until you have the right body position. This goes for 4 year olds all the way up to senior level swimmers. One little thing off can throw off your entire stroke and cause inefficiency and slower speeds when racing.
Favorite Stroke: Backstroke and butterfly to swim, freestyle to coach
BIO: Coach Carina has a passion for coaching with a focus on instilling proper technique and a love for swimming in every athlete. She is excited to be back with Larkspur this summer. She is an age group coach for Coastal Virginia Aquatic Club, a licensed nurse continuing her education to obtain her BSN and can sometimes be found working at Aquawear. She has 6 years of year round coaching experience and was a Virginia Swimming Zones coach for 2 years. She started swimming competitively at age 11 and received a swimming scholarship to a Division I university. She still swims competitively when she has time and is the holder of statewide age group records for Virginia Masters Swimming. She is married to a Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician and is the mother of four swimmers. You can find her relaxing on the beach or by the pool, biking or trying to find a quiet place to study in her spare time.
Message to Larkspur Lasers: What a start to 2020! I know this isn’t the summer swim experience we all hoped for but I am confident we can have a great time swimming, socializing, learning new skills and ending with an awesome and fun event to showcase the skills learned. Just keep swimming!️
